ORDO

Edit PDF

Change text that's already in a PDF, add your own text, pictures and a signature, redact for good and reorder pages — locally in your browser. Free, no sign-up.

Existing text is edited directly only where ORDO can do it safely; otherwise it says so and offers a clearly labelled fallback. Nothing is uploaded.

Tap INV-0042 and type INV-0043. The text changes in the file itself.

What you can do

Remove sensitive content, not just cover it

They look alike on screen and are very different inside the file.

Cover (whiteout)

  • Draws a block over the text.
  • The original text stays in the file: it can still be selected, copied and searched.
  • Fine for tidying a layout. Not for ID numbers, account numbers or anything confidential.

Redact

  • Removes the text, pictures and lines under the area from the PDF you download.
  • After making the file, ORDO re-reads it and refuses the download if anything under the marks can still be found.
  • Your original file isn't changed. Names left in document properties, bookmarks or notes are reported, not cleaned — check them before sharing.

Covering vs redacting a PDF: what's the difference?

How it works

  1. Choose a PDF. It opens here, in your browser.
  2. Pick Text and tap where you want to type — or tap straight into a form's own boxes.
  3. Tick, cross, highlight, draw a box or an arrow, or add a picture such as a logo or signature. Undo anything.
  4. Download a new PDF. Your original file isn't changed.
  • Opens most PDFs, including forms without fillable boxes: tap anywhere on the page and type.
  • Supported text is embedded as searchable, copyable text. Reading, writing and editing have different language limits; see the capability matrix.
  • Real form fields (text, tick boxes, choices, dropdowns) are shown as boxes you can fill, and stay fillable in the downloaded PDF.
  • What you add is drawn into the pages, so it looks the same in every PDF app and prints as you see it.
  • Your PDF is opened and saved in your browser. It's never uploaded to ORDO.

What it doesn't do (yet)

  • Text already in the PDF can be changed directly only when ORDO can do it safely; otherwise ORDO offers to cover it and type the new text on top. Scanned pages have no text to edit (ORDO doesn't read scans).
  • Cover hides text from view but doesn't remove it from the file. Redact removes it for good.
  • Text wraps only in a box you give a width (drag its side handle); otherwise press Enter for a new line. Existing paragraphs in the PDF don't reflow.
  • No digital (certificate) signatures. You can write a signature with the Pen.
  • Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first.

Questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. This tool runs inside your browser on this device. ORDO's servers never receive the file, and the page's security policy blocks it from sending file data anywhere.

Can I change the text that's already in the PDF?

Often, yes. Choose Edit text and tap the text. When ORDO can rewrite it safely, the old wording is replaced in the file itself. When it can't, ORDO says so and offers to cover it and type the new text on top instead — it never pretends.

My form has no boxes to click. Can I still fill it in?

Yes. Choose Text, tap on the blank line or box, and type. Your text stays where you put it, on the right page, even on rotated pages.

Which text can I edit or add?

Existing text is edited only where ORDO can safely rewrite it. New text uses the supported editor font. Check the language capability matrix; reading a script does not mean it can be written or edited.
